    The Emerson’s SPOTLIGHT ON SONG series, hosted by Doug Yoel, will debut on Thursday, August 4 at 8 pm with singer-songwriter Sarah Fimm.

    The bi-weekly series will continue with performances by noteworthy singer-songwriters Jason Crosby and Megan Palmer, Julia Nichols, and Kyle Esposito. Others to be announced shortly.

    MT. TREMPER, NY, July 15, 2011 – The Emerson presents a new music series at their luxurious Catskill Mountain destination. The Emerson’s SPOTLIGHT ON SONG series will feature high caliber solo and duo performances from the deep pool of talent that lives in and visits the Hudson Valley. The series will debut on Thursday August 4 at 8 pm with performances by host Doug Yoel and featured guest Sarah Fimm.

    Both are noteworthy musicians. Billboard Magazine calls Sarah Fimm “… a consummate songwriter” and “… an enchanting singer-pianist.” Fimm now lives in Shokan and has recorded her last several albums in the Hudson Valley.

    The Americana magazine, No Depression, calls Woodstock based singer-songwriter Doug Yoel, “… one of our faves.” Also a Grammy Nominated record producer, Yoel’s recent recording of blues man Lucky Peterson (made in the Hudson Valley) won high honors on both sides of the Atlantic.

    In addition to serving as host and program director for the Iridium Songwriter Series at the Iridium Theatre in New York City, Yoel is curating and producing Emerson’s SPOTLIGHT ON SONG series

    The series continues on Thursday, August 18 with the duo of Jason Crosby and Megan Palmer. Jason is a veteran of the Susan Tedeschi Band and the Robert Randolph Family Band, and is a popular New York City-based singer-songwriter. On Thursday, September 1, Doug will be joined by Julia Nichols, singer-songwriter from the popular Hudson Valley band Naked. On Thursday, September 15, singer-songwriter Kyle Esposito will be featured, an MVP of the Hudson Valley music scene.

    Emerson’s Spotlight on Song concerts will be held adjacent to their acclaimed Phoenix restaurant. The Phoenix offers an ever changing menu featuring the Contemporary Catskill Regional Cuisine of Chef Curt Robair and is open for dinner Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings from 4 pm. A pre-concert dinner with friends at The Phoenix is not required for concert attendance.

    Performances will take place either inside the Emerson’s Great Room or on the back deck of The Phoenix (weather permitting). Admission is donation based with a suggested minimum of $5 per person.
